Best Dream bright prospect tonight

By

JEFF SCOTT

Best Dream would only need an ounce of luck from the unruly position to come out on top in the Commercial Millinery Handicap, the third leg of the T.A.B. treble at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway this evening. Starting from the unruly position in a standing start sprint over 2000 m is not in Best Dream’s favour, but the speedy free-legged pacer has the ability to overcome this handicap. He was gallant in defeat, only half a length from Memphis, at the New Zealand Metrpolitan meeting last Saturday, after making his run sooner than he would have liked. Detective might have beaten Joy Boy in the four-

year-old handicap last Saturday if he had pressured the winner earlier, according to the gelding’s trainerdriver, Bob Nyhan. As it was, he only failed by a nose after giving the lead away to Joy Boy 700 m out and coming again strongly near the line. A good beginner, Detective appears the biggest stumbling block for Best Dream tonight. Hand Back battled on for third to Memphis and Best Dream last week and has prospects again from a handy draw. Flat Tack, which appears stronger how, and Corrigan, appeal most of the remainder. Poor Boy, which rattled home later for fourth when having his first start for over four months last Saturday, is likely to take beating in the first leg of the T.A.B.

treble, the Peter Cocks Handicap. The promising Armbro Del three-year-old has had only four ’ starts and has looked most promising in all he has done to date.

He did not help his chance with an early break last week and would only need to step away on terms with the field to make his challengers work hard for victory. Game Greg and Lord Zetland, which trotted fine races last week, should again be prominent, and Hilderbrand, an easy winner of the maiden trot last Saturday in his debut, must be given a chance. Streets Ahead, Roydon Magic and Wiki Wiki remain in favour for the middle leg, the Max Harvey Handicap.
