Attractive trial by Fine Offer at Awapuni
Special correspondent Palmerston North
Fine Offer continued his preparation for the Ryder Stakes at Levin next week with another good gallop at Awapuni on Thursday morning. Fine Offer is top weight in the event and though his co-trainer, Alan Kaye, is a little unhappy having to give weight to Curiosity, there is no question at this stage of the horse not running.
Fine Offer is unbeaten in four starts and the Ryder could go his way. His work on Thursday was watched by his owner, Mr Joe Walding, and he was not disappointed.
Ridden by his race day jockey, Noel Harris, Fine Offer shaded Vatican’s Choice at the end of 800 m on a heavy course proper in 565, the last 600 m in 41. Fine Offer looks to have done everything right since winning at Tauranga. Loterie D’Angleterre looks to have a great, chance of notching an over- • due win in the highweight at. u Trentham today. The field is -
weak and the mare has been running fair races lately. She worked with Sasoledo over 1200 m in Imin 255, the last 600 m in 425. Contraband and Port Cairo ran from the 800 m in 57.45, the last 600 m in 42.4 s
