Buses divert for Royalty
All Christchurch Transport Board buses will be diverted away from Cathedral Square tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon to make way for the Royal “walkabout.” Services which usually depart and leave from the Square will have temporary termini nearby. Buses will depart for Cashmere, Hoon Hay, Spreydon, Beckenham, and Lyttelton from a temporary stop outside Woolworths in Hereford Street. Services to Papanui, Cranford Street, Bromley, St Albans Park, Burwood, Shirley, and Rangiora will leave from a stop outside the Bank of New Zealand building in Hereford Street.
Sumner, Brighton, Dallington, Wainoni, Marshland Road, St Martins, Opawa, and Huntsbury buses will leave from outside the Post Office Savings Bank building in Hereford Street. Those to Riccarton, Fendalton, Bryndwr, Mays Road, Somerfield, Avonhead, Templeton, Wharenui, Southbridge, and the Christchurch Airport will leave from outside Whitcoulls in Hereford Street. Buses to North Beach will depart from outside the P.S.I.S. building in Manchester Street. It is expected buses will run as normal from the Square after midday. Royal itinerary, page 20
