Export success for Corbans
Corbans wines, now available in a thousand American retail outlets, mainly in Southern California, have recently been placed on the Princess fleet of cruise ships operating the west coast of North America, according to Mr Robert Prenter. Mr Prenter, who is in charge of Corbans’ master distributorship in Los Angeles, said that most large supermarket chains, as well as two large department store chains, are carrying the wines in California, and that there is distribution in eight other
states, including several on the east coast. Corbans wines have also been recently added at the 72-store chain called Liquor Barn, established three years ago by Safeway Stores as a separate enterprise. Swiftly expanding, Liquor Barn is expected to have 100 stores and do JUS3OO million this year. Mr Prenter said that Corbans are introducing four new wines to the American market — 1980 Blanc de Pinot Noir, and three 1982 vintages — Gewurztraminer, Muller-Thurgau, and late harvest Riesling.
