Ashburton road race

Two University of Canterbury runners, lan Milne and Alistair Stopforth. are among the leading entrants in the annual Ashburton 10km road race tomorrow. Other leading runners are John Gamblin (Ashburton), who won the King of the Mountains race in Christchurch just before Christmas, and the Christchurch Club members Kevin Barnes and Derek Aikenhead. The veteran men s section is expected to develop into a duel between two Timaru men. John

Souter and lan Falvey: Fortytwo runners have entered, but with entries being accepted on the day, more than 100 are expected to start. The race begins at noon on the corner of Walnut Avenue and Creek Road, outside the Ashburton Domain. The course is the same as last year, and was won by Brian Kennelly of University. The race is open to registered and nonregistered runners, with a $1 and a $3 entry fee respectively.
