Seven players promoted
The. Canterbury rugby selector, Alex Wyllie, - has taken the opportunity to give the reserves of recent matches a run in the nonchampionship game against. Nelson Bays, at Lancaster Park on Saturday. ; Seven players have been ‘■promoted from the reserves’ bench and they are Andrew Munro, Warwick Taylor, Bruce Deans, John Masefield, Kerry Flood, Kerry Mitchell and Gwyn Williams. Jock Hobbs and Don Hayes have been bracketed as flankers, this decision depending on how Hayes comes through his game tonight-for
his Kirwee club side. There is also a bracket in the front row. Bill Bush is getting over a fqot injury and if he needs more recovery time the Linwood captain, Ru Koha, will make his first appearance for Canterbury A. The team is:- Robbie Deans; Garry Hooper, Munro, Bill Anderson; Taylor. Kieran Keane; Bruce Deans; Masefield; Flood, Tony Thorpe, Mitchell, Hobbs or Hayes; Murray Davie, Williams, Bush or Koha. Reserves: Victor Simpson, Steve Scott, Craig Green; Albert Anderson, John Mills, Dale Atkins.
