Withdrawal from Kampuchea
Sir,—Bruce McAlpine asks: “Is it that an anti-Russian stance is more important to the United States than the integrity and self-determina-tion of small nations?” The answer, of course, is, yes. From the Monroe doctrine of 1823, the United States has backed any and every South American government with arms and loans provided they follow anti-communist and proUnited States policies. And the ordinary people of Asia. Europe. Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific have died in their millions to pay for the security of the American taxpayer. Both the United States and the Soviet Union would qualify as the most bloodyhanded promoters of massmurder in the history of the world. How tragic that our Government identifies itself with the hawks of Washington.—Yours. etc., GRAEME YARDLEY. Julv 12. 1982.
