More lamb to go to France

NZPA staff correspondent London The E.E.C. has fixed a maximum level of 2889 tonnes for French imports of New Zealand lamb this year. This is an improvement on last year, when New Zealand sent slightly more than 2500 tonnes, worth almost $lO million. New Zealand agreed under the E.E.C. sheepmeat regulations voluntarily to limit to traditional level? exports to "sensitive” France and Ireland. The European Commission then fixes the maximum quantities for w’hich France and Ireland will issue import licences. The maximum for France this year has been set at 6718 tonnes. New Zealand being able to send up to 2889 tonnes, the biggest single quantity.
