Peace group formed
A new committee, called “Peace Action,” has been formed to mark Mother’s Day on Sunday and an international women's “action day” for peace on May 24. On Friday, the sevenmember committee will distribute white flowers in Cathedral Square about lunch-time, and in the Shades shopping centre between 7
p.m. and 8 p.m. The flowers will signify peace. On May 24, a lunch-time peace walk will be held from the Citizens’ War Memorial in Cathedral Square to the Bridge of Remembrance. Street theatre will be presented. Speakers will include the member of Parliament for Selwyn, Miss Ruth Richardson.
