Sound win for Park

Lancaster Park scored a first innings win over the women’s cricket competition leaders, Riccarton, in the second round of two-day games in Christchurch on Saturday. St Albans had an outright. victory over Sydenham in the other match. Riccarton fell just 18 runs short of the Lancaster Park total of 303 for the first innings after a fine century from Nicki Sherriff and a solid partnership between Sherriff and Karen Gunn. Gunn was unbeaten on 68 when the Riccarton innings closed. Deborah Ford was the Park team’s most - successful bowler with four "wickets. When play was halted with no chance of a further result, Lancaster Park was 102/2 in its second innings with Jenny Olsen not out on 53. St Albans declared its first innings closed at 206/7, one run ahead of Sydenham’s fir?t innings tally. Sydenham then made a generous declaration with its second innings at 104/5, allowing St Albans 100 minutes to make the 101 runs needed for the outright win.
