Alcohol
Sir.—The director of the Liquor Industry Council. Mr J. W. Thompson, deludes himself. New Zealand is an alcoholsoaked country and its people are suffering from the effects. Thousands are brain damaged and children are being born into the community retarded and with facial deformities. Continuance of this aggravated situation should not be encouraged. State control will not alter or improve matters. Prohibition is the answer. It will encourage drinkers to break free from an addictive drug and to lead happier healthier lives. Alcohol has done nothing to enrich the community morally, financially, socially or culturally.—Yours, etc., M. A. HOGAN. November 24, 1981. .
