Hearing aids
Sir,—Full marks must.go to the deaf students .whose letter
(November 21) about the great and rising cost of hearing aid batteries, hearing aid cords,, and aids themselves, you published on Saturday. It is diffi-, cult enough to get folk to wear aids, which not only assist with hearing but relieve nervous tension both to the users and their immediate associates, without adding to the reluctance by inflicting increased, unsubsidised- costs. However, if they or their parents contacted, or 'better still, became members of their local branch of the Hearing Association, it would not only be to their advantage but give the New Zealand Association greater power to negotiate on their behalf, and others, especially the elderly, who cannot always meet the expense. — Yours, etc., JOHN REID, Publicity Officer, Marlborough branch of the Hearing Assn. November 23. 1981.
