Bureaucracy
Sir,—During the last Parliament the member for Lyttelton waged a very public campaign against bureaucracy and red tape. Yet is is this very same member who now advocates the creation of a new bureaucracy, the Ministry of Consumer Protection. Not . a thought has apparently been given to the “consumer” of such political propositions, the poor unfortunate taxpayer who will be called upon to fund this fresh outbreak of bureaucracy. Could it be that the desperation for office has prevailed over previously declared principles?—Yours, etc.,
RUTH RICHARDSON. October 29, 1981.
