Trials on monkeys

Sir,—Mrs Tarlton (October 28) is to be commended for stepping out from the silent majority to speak out on the world-wide animal abuse issue. The recent article in “The Press” on monkey experiments is a sample of unbelievable experiments carried out on primates and domestic animals in laboratories which are literally animal “Belsens.” It is

significant that the Nazi abuse on humans was carried out by ex-animal experimenters. If Christ was on earth today I am sure His would be the leading anti-vivisectionist voice, which makes many wonder why there is not more vocal support from the churches. There is little point in blessing pet animals on animal week while ignoring their brothers in the torture chambers for the remainder of the year.—Yours, etc.,
