Record for Merino

• A record price of 596 c a kilogram for Merino wool . was set at . yesterday’s Christchurch sale. It was paid for five bales from D. L. Harcourt’s Grasmere station at Cass.

Although for some classes of wool the market' was easier again, the adjusted weighted average price for the sale at 261.36 c a. kilogram represented a slight; improvement on Thursday’s Auckland sale. However, it was calculated that the Government would still be supplementing prices paid for the 26,000 bales offered by Christchurch and Dunedin brokers to the extent of about $2.7 million. As well some growers will be receiving a supplement under the Wool Board's minimum price scheme. Details, Page 12.
