Repairs to canal

PA Whakatanc The Aniwhenua hydro scheme may be functioning again by the end of this month.

Restoration work on the scheme was started after it was shut down to allow a full inspection of a leak in its concrete-lined canal. The canal was drained and concrete slabs round the central spot removed. Several lesser areas were also opened "as a precautionary measure,” the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board was told.

The cause of the leak was discussed in committee.
