Regal Guy to race in North America

By G. K. YULE Regal Guy is among the latest Canterbury pacers sold to do their future racing in North America. In spite of reports of a sharp decline in interest in New Zealand horses from the United States and Canada, •there has been a steady stream of exports lately. Regal Guy, a four-year-old stallion by Regal Yankee from Redeem, was raced and 1 rained by his Ashburton breeder, G.aham Marshall, for whom he won six races, as well as recording a number of worthwhile performances.

Two of his best wins at three years were the Nelson Sportsman’s Three-year-old Classic, in which he beat Armalight, and the Lion Capital Classic Handicap at Hutt Park, Treasurer and Remarkable chasing him home. Wenona Scott, also the

winner of six races, is to be raced in California from Kevin Townley’s team. The six-year-old by Scottish Hanover from Tiny Frost, the dam also of Rustic Zephyr and Philippa Frost, has not won a race tnis season, but he has several worthwhile placings to his credit. Lord Neutrino, unbeaten in his last two starts in the interests of his yo-’-g Methven trainer, Danny McKendry, has also been sold.

The open class trotter, Even Speed, which did his latest racing from the Clevedon team of Roy and Barry Purdon, will do his future racing in North America. The half-share previously held by the estate of the late Dr Brian Nixon, of Greymouth, has been sold. His other part-owner, Mr lan Langford, of Rangiora, has retained his share.

Even Speed, a seven-year-old gelding by Great Evander from Swift Sarah, has had three wins this season; at Greymouth on October 15, Waikouiti on November 1 and at the Manawatu meeting towards the end of November last.

Gavin Maginn'--, has sold his promising C 4 pacer. Castle Hanover. The son of Castle Bref showed ability above average and should be well suited by the mobile starts in North America. The West Melton trainer, Ivan Schwamm, has sold both Tribute and Ashley Lord to Canadian interests. Tribute wen three races for Schwamm.

Orientson, Thanks, Cruisaway, Fleetwood Mac, Scottish Dance and Millburn Hanover have been the slowclass pacers which have left or are due to leave this week for North America.
