Good Way attractive trialist for Wingatui
By J. J. BOYLE Good Way looked and performed well when he .galloped on the No. 7 grass at Riccarton yesterday. John Parsons has this good winter performer in winning form for the Birthday Handicap at Wingatui next Monday, and judged on yesterday’s gallop the five-year-old has thrived since his victory in the Canterbury Jockey Club’s May Handicap last week. Good Way led his stablejmate, Jane Again, by half a length finishing 1600 m on a firm t jek in the smart time of Imin 41.85. He ran the final 600 in 38.85.
Orderho started alongside Good Way and just behind Jane Again, but he dropped away into a long gap in the straight.
Jane Again did well on a previous winter campaign at Wingatui and might be a lightweight improver in the first leg of the Otago T.A.B. double on Saturday. Highborn will also be running for the Parser’. Stable in the feature flat race on Saturday. He was on the track yesterday to do a round of the trial hurdles course in the hands of Owen Anning. As a last-start winnei over 1600 m at the Amberley meeting, Highborn will claim some attention when he appears in stronger company on Saturday. Belisarius rolled into his work keenly while sprinting 1200 m in Imin 20.45, the opening 600 in 38.6. But Babble, a form runner in the : Prince Charles Handicap atj.
Wingatui, was under a snug I hold throughout her 600 and took 43.5. Mirtoan Sea, whose next start will be at the Hororata meeting, dashed in from the 600 in 36.8. Precious Mac finished 600 well clear of the Belletrist over 600 in 40.2 Precious Mac has joined John Bourne’s stable since he last raced. Photo Copy, a Sovereign Prince filly in the Bourne stable, recorded 39 for heri 600. This was equalled byj Mario Kempes when he beat!
