Market rally fades

Share prices became mixed on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, as the market rally weakened for the first time in a fortnight. One reason may have been that a good N.Z. Forest Products’ result was anticipated, and once it was actually announced, the profit-takers took advantage of its high price. The issue eased a further 2c to 440 c. Fletcher Challenge and New Zealand South British also fell. Winstone firmed 3c to 75c on the news of Government help for its joint-venture pulp mill, and Lion Breweries was 2c higher at 141 c. Among second-line issues, Computer Consultants, Baillie Farmers, Trans-Ashburton, and Christchurch Press were firmer.
