Overseas contract
PA Auckland A South Auckland engineering firm has won an overseas contract worth almost $5 million. Comtrade Engineering International, Ltd, which is based at Wiri, will be responsible for expansions to a ball mill in Bougainville, Papua New Guniea, at one of the world’s largest open cast copper mines. The Comtrade Company will be employed by Minenco, Ltd, a Melbournebased company, which is a subsidiary of Bougainville Copper, Ltd. Comtrade won the con-
tract over nine other tenderers, including eight Australian firms and another New Zealand company. Between 80 and 100 New Zealanders will be used on the project, which is exEected to take nine months eginning in July. Comtrade has been in the export field for 10 years and has had overseas contracts for eight years in' Nauru, Hawaii, and American Samoa. The extension to the ball mill, which is used to grind up copper ore, is the biggest contract of the company to date.
