Govt sets up group for Erebus claims

PA Wellington The Attorney-General (Mr McLay) has established a special working party under his direct. chairmanship to deal with; any possible claims against the Crown arising from the Mount Erebus air crash. In addition to Mr McLay the party comprises the Solicitor-General, Mr D. P. Neazor, Q.C.; the Auckland Crown Solicitor, Mr D. S. Morris, who appeared for the Civil Aviation Division before the Royal Commission of .Inquiry; Mr R. G. Collins,

a senior partner in the Wellington legal firm of Rainey, Collins, Armour, and Boock; and Mr K. I. Murray, a Crown counsel with the Crown Law Office in Well- . ington and formerly with the Ministry of Transport. Mr. McLay said that the group had already started its work. In view of the nature of any possible claims, the involvement of other parties, and the possibility of court proceedings it would not be appropriate for more detailed comment to be made bn its work.
