P.M. attacks critic
P A Wellington The president of the auckland District Law Society, Mr E. W. Thomas, was talking nonsense in “criticising my comments on the Mount Erebus report,” said the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) yesterday. “If he had taken any notice of the comprehensive statement that I made on Wednesday of this week, he
would have seen that I gave full weight to the reputation of Mr Justice Mahon and his findings, as well as adequate weight to the contrary view. “In setting himself up as a judge in an action yet to be heard in the High Court, Mr Thomas is continuing a disturbing line of anti-establish-ment statements which have become typical of the Auckland District Law Society’s committee, in recent years.”
