Dairy companies merge
PA Masterton Wairarapa’s two leading dairy companies have merged. Discussions on a merger between the Pa-hiatua-based Tui Co-oper-ative Dairy Company, Ltd, and the Wairarapa Dairy Company, of Featherston, began late last year. A meeting of the Wairarapa company's .. shareholders has finally agreed. The new company, to keep the name Tui Cooperative Dairy Company, will have about 600 dairy farm suppliers' who produce 11 million kilograms of milk fat annually. Manufacture, which includes all the main products. of butter-, cheese, casein, and various types of milk powders, will have a total annual production of about 25,000 tonnes, according to the two company chairmen, Mr H. J. Monaghan (Tui) and Mr B. L. Thompson (Wairarapa),
