Mr Ian Nisbet, of Christchurch, one of a trio of Scotsmen who called into a McCormacks Bay hairdressing salon to sell tickets for This evening’s Hogmanay Ball, found the tables turned when he met a hair stylist Penelope “Penny" West. Within minutes of entering the Soleares Avenue building, Ian and his companions Bob Yellowlees, and Wallace Vinnell, found themselves lined up for the treatment which Penny assured them would make them “braw and bright for New Year's night."
