Escaped prisoner
A man who escaped from Paparua Prison yesterday morning was still at large late last evening.
He is Kevin John Ball, aged 21, who went missing while he was working at the prison’s poultry farm. The police were told of the escape at 11 a.m., and residents near the prison were warned on radio broadcasts to secure their homes
and vehicles. Motorists were also asked not to pick up hitch-hikers. Ball is a Caucasian, 181 cm
(sft Ilin) tall, of medium build, with black hair and green eyes. He is profusely tattooed on both arms, and was last seen wearing prison garb of blue jeans and blue shirt. Ball, who comes from Christchurch, is not regarded as dangerous by the police.
