Athey joins Sydney club

NZPA Syndey The England and Yorkshire batsman, Bill Athey, will play for the Sydney club champion, Balmain, this season. Athey is going to Australia after his shock omission from the England touring party for the West Indies.

Athey made his debut for England in the Prudential Cup matches against Australia in August and played in the Centenary Test at Lord’s Despite failing in the test, it had been thought that his impressive form would have gained him selection for .the West Indies.
