N.Z. race for Thatcher
NZPA Sydney Mark Thatcher, the racing driver son of British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, will arrive in New Zealand this Saturday. After flying to Sydney yesterday from London, Thatcher confirmed he had abandoned plans to race in Australia’s Bathurst Hardi Ferodo 1000 next month. He said he could not race
because of his contract' with the British car manufacturer, Talbot. The Bathurst circuit last year gave Thatcher his introduction to international racing. In New Zealand he will drive in a five-and-adialf hour race at Pukekohe. He said he could drive here because Talbot operates in New Zealand.'
