Polish strikes
Sir,—l watch with- interest the high-handed, overbearing and hypocritical attitudes of Communist factions in the New Zealand unions, hoping that sooner or later they will be put in a position that exposes their aims in this country for what they are. Last week the load-out ban was used to support unions in Australia. The South Africa and Chile facades are said to be in support of the oppressed workers > in these areas. I defy these organisers to do the same for the Polish workers at present fighting for the same rights as our trade union bosses abuse day after day. Poland does not permit independent trade unions so where is the outrage normally expressed by the stirrers over this issue? Does it not apply when the country is not Western world oriented? A reply from a Communist union leader would be very interesting.— Yours, etc.,
P. M. GOODWIN. August 21, 1980.
