Staying in N.Z.
Sir, — Referring to the front-page article on Prince Fumihito’s visit (August 25), I can understand why he wished to stay longer in New Zealand. I have hitchhiked across Australia from Perth, my home town, to Melbourne and am now staying with friends in Christchurch and desperately looking for work. I must truly say that after staying for three weeks and seeing the countryside between here and Reefton, I have fallen in love with Christchurch and its people. However, money just does not last forever and I will soon have to leave if work is not found. Believe me, it will be with very much reluctance, as you just do not know how lucky you are, living in such a friendly, fascinating and beautiful . place. — Yours, etc., R. CHIVERS. August 25, 1980.
