Ferries sail again

PA Wellington Wellington Harbour Board workers resumed ship handling yesterday morning, clearing the way for a 4 p.m. rail ferry sailing from the port. Work began after agreement by the Harbour Board Workers’ Union to a'ttend a

compulsory conference called by the Minister of Labour (Mr Bolger) for today. Workers refused to handle ships from midnight on Sunday over failure to negotiate a new productivity agreement with the Wellington Harbour Board. An earlier agreement expired in December, 1979. The. action cancelled sailings yesterday of the 7.20 a.m. and 10.10 a.m. ferries out of Wellington. Picton sailings were not.affected. The Aranui and the Aramoana are tied up for sur-

vey purposes today, and the only sailing from Wellington will be at 10 a.m. with a return from Picton at 2.20 p.m.
