Politicians held
The South Korean military at the week-end arrested 17 politicians and fired 431 officials of State-run organisations in a continuing purge of alleged corruption in positions of power. Mar-tial-law authorities said that three former Ministers, who served under the late President Park Chung Hee were among the 17 politicians accused of failing to return corruptly obtained assets to the State. The latest purge follows the dismissal of 4992 civil servants including commerce and the Industry Minister, Chung Chea Suk, and six Deputy Ministers. — Seoul.
