Germany wins again
NZPA London Jean Germany of Britain scored her second victory at the Royal International Horse Show at Wembley when she won the Champion Horseman event on Sunday night. Germany, a 20-year-old farmer’s daughter, took on and beat three of the show’s most successful riders. Each of the competitors in the event rode one round on each of the four horses. Germany had only four faults to win from 29-year-old .American Terry Rudd, from Pennsylvania, who had eight.
Harvey Smith of Britain was third with 11 faults and another Briton, Dave Bowen, . fourth and last with 12. Former world champion David Broome, won the top . score contest on Harris Homecare. scoring 1180 points — 130 more than sec- . ond-placed Smith — on i Sanyo Music Centre. ; Vicky Gascoigne, the 1979 European junior champion, took a two-horse stakes, ridi ing McGinty and Upstream, with a margin of .2 seconds > over two riders who shared second place, Britain’s Rich- ■ ard Sumner and American Melapie Smith.
