Lions head home
NZPA-Reuter Johannesburg
Bill Beaumont’s British Lions are homeward • bound and satisfied after one of the most gruelling rugby union tours of all time.
There were heady celebrations in the Lions’ camp on Sunday evening after their 17-13 triumph in the final international in Pretoria,
which prevented South Africa from gaining a clean sweep in the four-match series.
It was the first time a Lions team had ever won the last match in a four-test series in South Africa and Beaumont said: “I’m so pleased. I hope we will be remembered as the team which did that.”
