The latest Split Enz single, “I Got You,” has repeated its New Zealand success in Australia, where it is at No. 1 on the national charts for the second week running. The single off the group’s latest album, “True Colours,” has already topped the charts in New Zealand, staying at the No. 1 spot for three weeks. “I Got You” is now at No. 4 in the top 50 singles and has so . far been in the charts for eight weeks.
“True Colours”-has also rocked the Australian album charts where it is placed second. In New Zealand the album went platinum (the N.Z.. equivalent of two million sales in the United States) in four weeks, was top album for two weeks, and is now placed at No. 4, in its eighth-week stay in the charts. Split Enz are at present touring Australia, but, not surprisingly, the group is said to be going to try Britain again.
