Many Christchurch dbg owners face higher penalty payments this year if their animals are not registered be) fore the April 30 d leadline. 1
Only about 7700 dogs been registered so far: 10,400 had been registered bjr the penalty deadline last year. By the end of last year’s registration period (March 31) 14,500 dogs had been re-
gistered in the Christchurch City Council area. The councils dog-control supervisor (Mr A. F. Pyke), said the penalty payment would be an extra $7.50 after April 30. Last year’s penalty payment was $5. The registration fee is $20.50 for unspayed bitches and $lB for all other dogs and spayed bitches.
