Intruder still sought

Detectives are still looking for the burglar who threatened with a knife a man who surprised him in a Spreydon flat on Tuesday evening. The police said the man had returned to his flat in Redruth Avenue about 9.30 p.m. to find the front door open. He found an intruder interfering with his stereo set, and grappled with him. The intruder threw a bottle at the man, but missed, and was himself punched in the face and kneed in the groin. The intruder then produced a kitchen knife, and the man fainted. The burglar left empty-handed but the man did not call the police until about two hours after he had regained consciousness.

The offender is described as a Samoan, aged about 25, about 174 cm (sft Bin) tall, well built, with a pockmarked face and long frizzy hair, parted in the middle. He was wearing black gloves with the fingers cut out, a black nylon parka with red stripes round the wrists and body, and jeans.
