Day meeting for Park

Special correspondent Auckland

The Auckland Trotting Club will make a partial return to daylight racing at Alexandra Park on Anzac Day, April 25. The first race at the meeting will start at 2.40 p.m. and the last at about 8 p.m. It will be the first time the club has raced on Anzac Day, a date formerly used by the Avondale Jockey Club. A full 10-race programme will be run and, as well as open class events

for pacers and trotters, it will feature the $7OOO C. F. McCarthy Ladyship Stakes, for three-year-old fillies. The A.T.C. secretary, Mr Jim Patterson, said yesterday his committee felt Anzac Day was a good opportunity to introduce twilight meetings at Alexandra Park.

“They have been successful in ■ other parts of the country,” he said, “and there has been considerable interest in the holding of an occasional one at Alexandra Park.”
