Sangster rates Kingston Town in world class

NZPA Sydney Europe’s No. 1 racing man, Robert Sangster, rates the Australian Kingston Town as good as any three-year-old he has seen in the world. “I put him in the same class as Spectacular; Bid, and Alleged,” Mr Sangster said yesterday. He said Kingston Town was better than The MinstreL Spectacular Bid won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness; two legs of the American triple crown and was unluckily beaten in the third, the Belmont. _ Americans claim that Spectacular Bid is one of the greatest three-year-olds ever to race.

' Alleged is owned by Mr ; Sangster and is one of the ; few horses to win the Prix i De L’arc De Triomphe twice. ■ The Minstrel is also ! owned by Mr Sangster and that colt won the English ■ and Irish Derbys and the . King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Spectacular Bid, Alleged and The Minstrel are all now syndicated at the stud from prices ranging from SI2M to SISM. Mr Sangster said the greatest pity about Kingston Town was that he was a gelding. “If he was a stallion then he would be in the $7 million to $9 million bracket on ■ today’s thoroughbred world market,” Mr Sangster said.
