Talks on harbour planning

An American w’ho has studied harbour planning in the United States will meet Lyttelton Harbour Board members when he visits Christchurch tomorrow. Dr Marc Hershman, director of the Institute of Marine Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle, is in New Zealand to lecture on maritime planning. He. is the first recipient of the Winston Churchill Fellowship, awarded to bring a person to New Zealand. Dr Hershman will attend a coastal zone management seminar in Wellington arranged by the Marine Division of the Ministry of Transport and ( will visit other cities to meet harbour board and regional planning staff.

Dr Hershman will talk with Lyttelton Harbour Board members in the afternoon and will give a public lecture on maritime planning at the Christchurch Arts Centre in the evening.
