Dogs shot after worrying

Three German shepherd dogs have been shot after an outbreak of sheep-wor-rying on farms near Prebbleton. Farmers said yesterday that the dogs had killed eight sheep and savaged several others on three properties on Saturday night and Sunday night. Mrs J. Prattley, who farms stud Suffolk sheep in Tosswill Road, lost a stud ram and had several sheep badly mauled. “ Sh e e p-worrying is always a problem on farms in urban areas. People should try to make sure where their dogs are. especially’ at night,” said Mrs Prattley. She said the owner of at least one of the German shepherds had not known that the dog had been worrying sheep until it was shot.

He had agreed to pay compensation to the farmer involved.
