Cystic fibrosis

Sir, — The Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand is anxious to contact any families of C.F. sufferers in your area. Many parents may not even be aware that their children are cystic fibrosis sufferers. This disease is caused by the mucus in the body being thick like glue. This in turn affects the child’s digestion and clogs up the lungs, causing persistent coughing. Our association is endeavouring to contact all parents and C.F. sufferers throughout New Zealand. Early recognition and diagnosis, and the help and support of other C.F. parents can be of immense value. The Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand has branches in Auckland, W’aikato, King Country, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Anybody writing to our national office. Box 241, Auckland, will be contacted by the nearest branch secretary. —Yours, etc., MRS VAL McMAHON, Secretary, Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand. September 28, 1979.
