Credit-card travel out
PA Wellington The credit cards which have begun to appear on the New Zealand retail scene have not found favour with the Railways Department and other Governmentowned travel organisations. The Minister of Railways
day that the Railways did not accept credit cards as payment for travel services. The policy included the Visa card run by the Gov-ernment-owned Bank of New Zealand, he said. “It is based on the view that the cost of additional accounting and commission charges payable in accepting the cards outweighs any marketing or financial advantage they may have," Mr McLachlan said.
