Success for trainee chefs
Tony Gibson, Murray Breading, and Lee Jones, trainee chefs at the Christchurch Technical Institute, have cooked themselves into a chance of a trip to London. They have been picked to represent the South Island at the Salon Culinaire competition, to be held at Trillo’s night club, Auckland, in September. Four of the nine entrants in the competition will be chosen to represent New Zealand at the Hotel Olympia, London, in 1980. The three trainees will have to prepare a coq au vin for four, a filet de sole Norrnande for four, an original lamb dish for six. an original duckling dish, and a static chicken display, all within a time limit.
