Gurkhas delayed
A company of Gurkhas which was to have arrived at Christchurch on Monday is now expected today. An Army spokesman said that the cause of the delay was unknown. The 96-man rifle company is from the Ist Battalion, 2nd Gurkha Rifles, which is based at Hong Kong. It will take part in “exercise Southern Safari.” The Gurkhas are set to arrive at Christchurch Airport on board a Royal Air Force VC 10 at 3 p.m.
