NZPA-Reuter Glasgow Finland’s Hannu Mikkola ' snatched victory from Russell Brookes of Britain, in a thrilling finish to the • 1200 km international Scottish rally. Brookes, the overnight! ! leader, was set for a com-j fortable win before his Ford Escort developed ignition 1 and steering troubles. Mikkola seized the chance : to wipe out Saturday's 2min deficit and drove brilliantly j in the final special stages in I the forests of south-west j Scotland. He ended the day! on level aggregate scores' with Brookes but the Finn,) last year’s champion, took the verdict for his faster time bn the last stage.
