N.Z.-Japan prediction
PA Nelson New Zealand could have exports to Japan worth SIOOOM within five years, a senior Japanese businessman in New Zealand, Mr H. Kobayashi, has predicted. In an address to the Nelson Chamber of Commerce, Mr Kobayashi said New Zealand should be able to achieve greately enlarged exports to Japan,
provided the people concerned in both countries took necessary steps to help trade develop. Mr Kobayashi, manag-ing-director of Mitsui and Company, New Zealand, Ltd, said Japan was taking more than 13 per cent of New Zealand’s exports, and supplying about 12 per cent of its imports. This represented less than 1 per cent of Japan’s total trade.
