Special Cathedral Mass
A special Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament tomorrow to mark the centenary of the death of Christchurch’s first Roman Catholic parish priest. The priest, the Rev John Antoine Seon, S.M., was also the first Maori Missioner in the Christchurch area. The Mass will be attended by members of the local Roman Catholic Maori com-
j munity and about 20 priests 11 of the Society of Mary, to • which Father Seon belonged. -IThe celebrant will be the f Cathedral administrator, the i Rev. J. Harrington. The Rev. N. Vaney, S.M., the Roman i Catholic chaplain at the Uni- > versity of Canterbury, will > I preach at the Mass. Father Harrington will 1 lead a pilgrimage to Father 1 Seon’s grave at Meanee, in ■ Hawke’s Bay, on Monday.
