Channel bid today?
PA Wellington Meda McKenzie is now expected to start her attempt to swim the English Channel tonight New Zealand time. Meda McKenzie, aged 16, this year became the first person to swim Cook Strait both ways.
She is scheduled to make her Channel attempt after an American girl, Julie Dean. However, Miss Dean plans a record swim, and is prepared to wait several weeks for conditions to be perfect.
