Andrew Roberts, of Mairehau High School, won the secondary schools’ speech contest on conservation at the Horticultural Hall in Christchurch last even-
ing. Richard James, of Shirley Boys’ High School, was second, and Andrea Craze, of Mairehau High School, was third. The judges were Mrs S. Kingston and Mr J. R. Milligan. The speech finals were held on the opening night of Conservation Week.
It is the second year that Mairehau High School has won the speech trophy.
