Organised eating

Sir, — Organisation is the key to dining out. We hear about people getting “ripped off.” Fancy having to pay $8 or $9 for a steak smothered in garlic and cream. Really, it is our own fault. Before we decide to go out and eat, we should think about the type of catering required: fast food service, hotel, Chinese, French, b.y.o. restaurants. Then the different places should be telephoned to see what they have to offer in menus, prices, and times. And lastly, when dining out it saves tangled tongues, ghastly passes and red faces to know a little about what is being eaten, drunk, and talked about. Certainly not the scene for the social climber. — Yours, etc., N. J. GRANT. July 14, 1978.
